About Maypole Farm

Learn about who we are, our mission, our values and our relationship with the wider Tuition Extra Group.

A different kind of provision for a different kind of need.

Maypole Farm is a specialist alternative provision based in Hoath, Kent, supporting children and young people, many of whom may struggle to flourish in mainstream educational settings.

Maypole Farm is part of the Tuition Extra Group, a family of organisations committed to removing barriers to learning in order to change young lives for the better. The Farm provides opportunities for learning, growth and steps towards a positive future.

We work with children and young people aged 3 to 25, many of whom have Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs) and/or school-based trauma.

Maypole Farm is a holistic and inclusive place for all.

Our mission

To help every Maypole Farm child or young person feel safe and build trust to find a meaningful path forwards.

Not a path we have chosen for them. Not a path that fits a system. Their path - shaped around who they are, what they need and where they want to go.

Relational. Practical. Therapeutic.

The Maypole Farm approach is shaped by what we know about trauma, attachment and the conditions young people need to learn.

The Thrive Approach is an evidence-based method that supports social and emotional development and is embedded as a way of working across the Tuition Extra Group. This enables our team to understand children's behaviour, meet the needs beneath it, support self-regulation and remove barriers to learning.

The Thrive Approach has been recognised as good practice by OFSTED for improving behaviour, wellbeing and mental health in education and social care settings, leading to better learning outcomes.

Everything we do within the farm environment creates conditions where children who have struggled, can start to feel safe again.

When a young person feels both psychologically and physically safe, trust can be built and learning will follow.

We look for what children can do. Building on strengths and interests creates momentum that builds confidence and leads to success.

Safeguarding first

Safety is central to everything we do.

Professional team
